WOW!! You are amazing. There are two things that you do that I do also, run and encourage others to live their dreams. I've run 9 marathons and countless other races in the last 20 years. How do you do it without breaking down. Are you specially gifted or use some special techniques? I guess I haven't pushed my body hard enough and then seen what will happen. Your wife is amazing and it is good to have a running buddy that you love. Are you coming to the NEW YORK CITY area soon? I would love to see you. God bless, Wilfred

Jerry, I was google-searching for something I had written and came across the story I wrote about you as you were closing in on 200 in 2000, at the Hops Marathon in Tampa. I've been at the St. Petersburg Times for nearly six years and that is one of my favorite stories, and it was one of a few I did on running/runners that proved to be inspirational. Less than a year later I took up running and two years later I completed the Hops Marathon. It was much colder when I did it in Jan. 2003, mercifully. I'm still running recreationally, did some 10Ks this winter, but I think one marathon was enough for my bones. Hope all is well.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me on my goals. I didn't even realize you were famous until I checked out one of the links on your response to me. I'm looking forward to meeting you in Deadwood. I wasn't sure about running it until I realized how far out of your busy way you went to talk with me. Thanks!

Hey Jerry: You've just been bookmarked for future inspiration. Great page of accomplishments, one step at a time. I hope to follow in a random and somewhat smaller set of your footprints in my life as well. Thanks.

I have a huge smile on my face as I write this. I feel very humbled as I recall our conversation today regarding running in your upcoming Deadwood-Mickelson Trail Marathon when I asked if you have run any marathons . . . you see I am now on your web site . . . enough said:)

I just finished reading your story in the November/December 2001 issue of Marathon & Beyond. I have to admit I cried a couple of times. I love reading about what drives people to start running marathons in the first place (never mind completing 200 in one year). Your candor and truthfulness about your past really helps put things in perspective for those of us who have taken up marathoning for some similar (although not quite as extreme) reasons. After 15 years of marriage, I recently went through a divorce and I fell back on running as an outlet. I jumped into a marathon (before I was fully trained) and caught the bug. Since then, I've run 5 more in the last two years (not near your numbers, I admit) and running now consumes my non-working hours and thoughts. I often wonder whether I've become "addicted" to running in an unhealthy way. Reading about your story, however, leads me to believe that while it might be an addiction, it is certainly not unhealthy. Anyway, you're story is really inspiring and I admire you. P.S. I caught your appearance this past summer on "To Tell the Truth." You seemed like a modest, unassuming guy. At the moment, I'm getting psyched-up because I'm running New York on Sunday. Good luck and keep running!

Jerry- Congratulations on making 200 in 2000. You are an inspiration to athletes and couch potatoes alike. Thank you for your time when I caught up with you in Duluth on Tuesday, June 13 (#95 of 200). Your outlook on life is indeed refreshing, and it has been a true honor to cover your story. Warmest regards from the coldest place on earth. Take it easy -- you have certainly earned it!

Jerry and Elaine, It was interesting meeting you at Bern's on Sat. night in Tampa. I wish we had more time to chat. I also wish my son Ryan and I had known more about the two of you. Both of you are an inspiration to the running community. I will always remember our brief encounter. I hope you enjoyed your dinners as well as we did. Congratulations on your accomplishments.

Enjoyed running part of the MacDill AFB route with you this morning, Jerry. Best of luck in completing your personal challenge. It'll be my own challenge to get out to SF to run in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. From there, I'll see what else is on the horizon.

You are an asset to the running world. One day I wish to complete a marathon. I most recently did my first 10K and loved it. I never thought it would be possible for me to finish it. You have inspired me to continue on with my running. Thanks for helping many people stay involved and become involved in running. It is a great feeling to cross a finish line. Good luck to you in your future. Thanks for helping me decide to keep on running!!!!

It was an honor to run with you on your 150th. Only 50 to go to accomplish your goal. No question in my mind that you will do it...with style. The weather was so great. You had at least one day of our great Minnesota fall. I hope your presence will mean more great days ahead. I know you will enjoy this great marathon course, beautiful sights and great people. Keep the Faith!

Jerry. Thanks for stopping back to IMPACT to autograph the article. I enjoyed the Web page daily update, and was surprised to read about your experience in my daughters store. We really enjoyed it and look forward to having you come back. Hope the race goes well for you today. Happy birthday to Elaine. She is a lovely succulent wild woman. I love the fact that she ran the race in her wedding gown. Best wishes to both of you.

Hi Jerry Dunn!
I am the Hi GUY (www.HiGUY.ORG); i first heard about you while running with Paula Boone (your friend) in the Lake Geneva Marathon in Wisconsin on 5/13/00. We ran together for the last half of the race. We kept each other company after surviving a 30mph. headwind the first half around the lake. I'm a rookie Marathoner- my 3rd Marathon(4:34) in a month!!! I saw your article in a magazine today and am here at your site. I want to thank you for being such a Godly inspiration to me. May blessings run your way on your quest for 200 in 2000! :)higuy

Hey Jerry, Mike Davis, reporter for the Indpls Star wrote a short article on your 200 marathons for 2,000. He also listed you web site and so here I be. I kinda looked for ya at the Indy 500 mini-marathon this year, wasn't sure if you made it or not. Best of luck on your goals for 2000.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Jerry - It was such a pleasure to run with you in Eden Park in Cincinnati this morning. I once wrote an article about the unexpected pleasures you encounter with out of town runs. Looks like I need to start thinking of writing a sequel. I hope to see you in San Diego when I take my TNT team there i June. I admire you for "living the dream" and wish you nothing but the best. If you're ever in B'ham, give me a call. We have a marathon here in November (Vulcan), and we have an extra bed. I'll keep up with you on the website. Al D.

Hi Jerry:
I got to meet you on Sat. afternoon at the Expo at the Boston Marathon Endurox booth. A friend of mine had just mentioned that same morning that he heard some guy had started running the course on April 1st. Congratulations! I just ran my 6th Boston 4:30:11 - second fastest time for me - still trying to bust thru the 4 hour barrier! All the best to you in your 200 marathon quest!

A friend and I met you the day before the Boston Marathon at about mile 16.5. We stopped to ask you if this was the actual route of the course. You were so helpful and willing to share information. When you told us that this was your 64th marathon this year, I thought maybe I had heard you incorrectly. Now that I have read your story and your accomplishments, I feel indeed privileged to have met you. Good luck in 2000, and congratulations on all of the goals you have already achieved. You are a true inspiration to us all.

Jerry, I've been telling people about "this guy" who's running 200 marathons in 2000. That I saw "him" in Boston on 4/1/00 (I was one of those people at the van at mile 19 and at the finish line) and that I really didn't believe that "he" was actually running 200 marathons. Now, here I am at your web site. Incredible. I'm running Boston on Monday, my second marathon, the 1999 San Diego Rock N' Roll for Leukemia's TNT was my first. I'm in awe. Through my training over the last 2 years. I have met, many, many people and have found the entire experience to be truly inspirational and very rewarding. I can't believe the kinds of experiences you must have had and have ahead of you. May the God in Heaven smile upon you. See you Monday.

Hi Jerry, going for another record and I hope you achieve it. You deserve it after your last record run. We ran together in the Marine Corps Marathon and we had a hoot. Our chant that day was "Stroke it to your left, stroke it to your right, stroke it down the middle, make it feel just right, just a stroking." I got my world record to, having finished more Double Ironman Triathlons than anyone in the world! Number 11, going for number 12 this September. Oooorah!

Jerry, we ran together in Salt Lake City last summer, and we met again in Chicago last fall. I ran the Millennium marathon in New Zealand 1/1/00, and stayed for a few weeks to see the country. I am just catching up on your quest. You have my admiration for your goal of 200 in 2000, and I have no doubt that you will succeed. If you can endure one running of the Las Vegas marathon course on race day with other runners for company you have my respect (I ran it in 1995 to qualify for the 100th Boston), but to run it alone as many times as you have - why? I understand why you decided to take one of your 4 days off for lack of mental motivation. That is without a doubt the ugliest marathon course in the US. Get off that course and out of that town! You have survived the most boring course there is for an unbelievable number of repetitions you can't possibly fail now. The "worst" is behind you now MARATHON MAN the rest is downhill with the wind at your back. Keep going Jerry!!!
